Meet Julie

Your time is at a premium.  For a quick bulleted list of my qualifications, click here.  If you would like more information about my values and the foundation of my business, visit How I do business.  For work references, click here.  If you would like more detailed information about me, please read on.

My Background

I began my career by earning a Bachelor's degree while working my way through school with retail jobs at the local mall.  After graduating, I worked in retail management for awhile, but soon discovered I had an affinity for the management and people-side of my job.  I went to work for a national training company.  There I did secretarial work until an opening became available in its Human Resources department.  That was the beginning of a successful career.  Later, after devoting three years to my parenting responsibilities, I went back to work when my daughter was three.  This time as a Senior Secretary in the Human Resources department of a large corporation.  I assisted the director of that department and worked my way up into a position of Human Resources Manager.  During this time, I also earned a Master's degree.  Eventually, I left this job to work for another major corporation as a Senior Human Resources Generalist in its mortgage division.  In addition, I currently serve as adjunct faculty at Graceland University where I teach a Training and Development class in the College of Professional Studies.

Why did I decide to be a Virtual Assistant?

I began to realize that life is very short and that I was spending a lot of time working, or planning for work, or worrying about work, or.... I was spending more time working than enjoying my family which is of greatest importance to me.  Every time I came home and held my new baby and breathed in his wonderful baby scent, I knew that something had to change.  I was also searching for a way that my work could be meaningful in truly helping and making a difference in others' lives.  I searched the Internet, talked to people, read everything I could find on working from home and small business opportunities.  Soon, I read about AssistU and the Virtual Assistance industry.  This was it!  I'd found a wonderful way to be at home and also use my knowledge and skills to make a profound impact on others' lives.

It is so wonderful to see my family more, to be at home and not have to commute, to run my own business (which I always wanted to do), and to have the flexibility to work each day with people and projects I enjoy.  I am excited to work with others who are working on a dream of making their own business a success.

What I bring to a client partnership

As I described above, I have over twelve years' business experience in management, administration, Human Resources, and consulting with business leaders.  I believe that experience, combined with a Master's degree, provides me with a great deal of knowledge and skill to offer my clients.  My goal is to support my clients across the board.  Not only can I handle basic administrative tasks, but I can also work with you at a high level in managing complex projects and creating solutions to take your business to the next level.  I can be another you!  You will find that I am professional, dedicated, trustworthy, detailed, and very tenacious.  I am committed to being a great partner; to learning you, your business, and your goals so that together we can make great things happen in your business.  I am committed to being "your partner for success".  When you succeed, I also succeed.

Memberships

I believe it is very important to continue to learn and advance our skills, to keep on top of advances in our industry, and to network with individuals in our own industry and others.  Because of this, I belong to the following organizations.

My Personal Side

I'm a Midwesterner since birth and I live with my wonderfully supportive husband, three great kids, and two impossible (but lovable) dogs.  When I'm not spending time with my family or working, I enjoy participating in activities at my church and my daughter's school, as well as running, gardening, cooking, and reading.

You could say that I'm somewhat of an introvert.  I'm persistent and focused, and a bit of a perfectionist...always striving for the best.  I'm quick to learn and grasp new ideas, and I enjoy examining possibilities, creating a plan, and achieving results.  I'm very dedicated, both to my family relationships and everything else that I commit myself to.  I am generally approachable and relate to others with warmth and empathy.

Thanks For Your Consideration

I appreciate you taking your valuable time to find out more about who I am, what virtual assistance is, and how I can help you achieve your goals.  Should you decide to work with a Virtual Assistant, it will be one of the smartest decisions you make for your business and your work/life balance.  Thanks so much for your time. I hope we talk soon.
